on the ID-Excel, and the ID-Edge? I'm not seeing much about them with regard to finds made, etc. Is anyone really using either of these units with good success? Why would you pick one over the other? Come on, fess up about these two.

There is a lot of talk about the C$, but I didn't like them. Doesn't mean they aren't good, as I said, I didn't like them. Don't want to hear about them in this thread.

Thanks,
OldeTymer

I got the id excel i love it i am waiting for it to warm up so i can get out i have gone to a couple of Beach's and found 2 rings and 2 old Penny's dates 1857 and 1902 all in the same day i have a CZ6 before and this new id excel is the best here

I've had my Excel for 3 months now and the jury is still out on it.
The weather in MO has really sucked for hunting and I still have to learn the machine. I hope that It is at least as good as my X-Terra
50. I've had It longer and know it better. I still have to get use
to the Excel, have trouble trusting the ID on it. When i get flustrated with both, I revert back to my 1236X and take a break. The
ID machines are the 1st I've owned in 35 years of hunting. I want to have faith in them, but it's hard just to beat the old ears only machines.

It IS "pretty dope" yo :D
If you have tried the ID-Excel at all, the Edge is very similar but with some very welcomed added depth power. Same Excel number system, and some additions like notches & preset modes....
Many feel that final digital effort is where Fisher's foreign enginner finally put it all together and got everything "right" so to speak. I have to say my most productive field test ever was with the Edge, & it's lightweight & breakdown ability make it my perfect "backpacking" unit. My buddy, like you, had a C$ and coming from a 1236x just didn't care for things like constant numbers & 51 hot rocks, etc....He sold it to buy an ID-Edge and is very happy now.....

Bill

with that move. You'll definatly see it's deeper, & my Excel is now a back-up too.....

Bill

just got the edge bill very cool is there anything i should i start with can you fill me in on the extras over the excel thanks jeff

No the excel is not just a begginer unit. :stars: I said in the field test it can hunt with the big boys and I stick by that. Shoot, I'm going to attempt to help Jeff then shut my mouth today! ;) That's 2 stupid things I have said & had to edit today. Sorry OT. I just meant that The Edge is a little deeper than the Excel & is therefore not being used much by me anymore...I have most every Fisher, so take nothing away from what the Excel can do. I made a lot of nice finds with it.....
Now Jeff, Congrats on your new Edge. To begin, I would maybe stay somewhat basic to start. Put your disc on 00 to accept all "positive" targets. Iron should go negative, unless it's big & shallow to fool the ID. Maybe sensitivity not super high to begin. Maybe 5 or so.
Try a park or a place you can go & dig to see how coins lock right in & the numbers stick on every sweep. As you get more comfortable you can experiment with bells & whistles like notching out things like tabs if they get pesky.......
I'm off to Florida for a few days to escape this bitter cold spell. Any further questions just post 'em up here & someone should help ya. Lots of happy Edge owners here...
good luck,
Bill

Thanks alot bill for the heip i like the excel and from what i been reading the edge is going to do very well here i am also wondering on old Canada coins and new Canada coins as Canada coins are not the same have you done any detecting in Canada with the edge and use these modes thanks Jeff

I've used an I.D Edge for about the last year and its a great detector in my book,I've used it as a land detector and as a wading detector by chest mounting it, It finds the small stuff that others miss and you know what it is for the most part after using it just a few times to get the hang of it(ie the number I.D. And depth reading) I've found alto of dimes and nickles mixed in with pull tabs in the parks i hunt with some in the same hole as the tabs so it will pick out the good from the bad even with the standard 8 in. search coil I've posted a few finds on here in the past so you can see some of the things I've found if you like hope this helps thanks for looking

my brother has been using the fisher 1266x ever since it came out.is there anyone on this forum that can tell me where he can purchase a new one??thanks ahead of time.:pulltab::usaflag:

i find quite a few Canadian coin here in michigan, thay hit really well
but the number I.D. will be off due to what thay are made of(newer clad)
but on the old silver coins the I.D. will be really close(i.e. qtr +34/35
dimes 28/30 ect.)and it works well as a wadeing detector at the beach too
