I got this photo tonight with a Nikon D 50. The lens is the 18-55mm 'base model'. I was using auto mode.

What should I have done different? It has an automated mode for night photography, but I would like to learn some of the whats and whys in manual.

Also I am attempting to learn Photoshop Elements. What, how and why could be done to improve this?

I'm here to learn, so blast away with both barrels![attachment 36819 100206002_edited-1.jpg]

Try putting the camera in "manual mode" and using different combinations of f-stop and shutter speed. I find that works better in the type of situation that you are in with the attached photo.

I did that at Monument Valley for the sunrise's.
