Ok, So is this upper portion of the headphone jack module waterproof?

Old California

New member
This may have already been explained and sorry if I missed the explaintion but is this upper portion of the explosed headphone jack area waterproof if left uncapped?

Don't remember seeing a cap cover for it, and if there was may have lost or not received one.

Appreciate comments from those that know, may hunt the water tomorrow.

Thanks,
Paul (Ca)

No it's not. You have to take that cover off and use the jack underneath it. Also you must use supplied screw under that cap as well.
Manual explains it.

There is no cap to cover the external headphone jack. And you should avoid getting it wet as it is not waterproof. One of the Minelab guys made a great video that demonstrates what is waterproof and what isn't.

Here is the link.... http://www.minelab.com/treasure-talk/ctx-3030-go-detecting-anywhere

If after reading his short article and watching the video, if you have any other questions, fire away! HH Randy

Thanks Randy,

That video answered all my waterproof questions, appreciate you posting the video and taking the time to answer my concern on the rear headphone jack area.

Have a waterproof headset on order so for the meantime will use the plug to cover the headphone connector portion of the detector, my wireless module is not working so will try and hunt using the speaker itself should be loud enough as long as I keep the speaker above water.

Something wrong with the wireless unit, reset it a few times tried all channels but still doesn't want to bond with the CTX, No biggie once I get the waterproof headset all will be fine.

Thanks again,
Paul (Ca)

Thanks Jab,

Appreciate your help, looking forward to tomorrows water hunt.

Thanks again,
Paul(Ca)

Paul, The CTX 3030 or the Wireless unit aren't fully charged when you receive them. The only times I had a "problem" getting them to sync was when the wireless mod needed charging. Might give that a shot. HH Randy
