While, I am interested in finding silver and gold, I am also interested in finding old other stuff too. Be it a belt buckle, toy, token, slave shackle etc....

What should I do? I have 3 programs in my machine one is just the top right corner not blacked out, the other is from metaldetectingworld.com and the last is Bryce's program. Everyone tells me to dig when the crosshairs is in the very top right corner so I do, but I am missing things aren't I?

What am I supposed to do just dig every target I get? How can I differeniate betweeen an old nail and say a belt buckle?

Thanks~!

If you're at an old site that you want to clean up and make sure you get every buckle, button, token, ring, pin, coin, bullet, etc. then you have to dig all the signals except iron. From the bottom of the screen to the top. From the right side to almost all the way to the left(like I said -13 iron mask or so on the XS, is that -26 on the SE?). I'm working on a couple of sites that were 1800's home sites and I'm digging most all signals. Sometimes I get tired of the lowest ones because they are usually 22 casings or foil but sometimes they're goodies. As you dig up more and more of the stuff in the ground you actually make it possible to hear more deep targets that were being masked by the shallower ones. If it's a real good old site then try using different size coils as well as different recovery speeds and also switch from conductive to ferrous sounds and vice versa.

Id say you are trying to cast a pretty broad net unless you want to spend all you time digging. In a trashy are you arent going to cover much ground. If you use IM at 22 you should be finding most of the items worth while. So Bryces setting should work very well. Once you learn those targets then move into some of the iron range with nails and bottle caps disc. Magic man had apretty good list of the digital numbers for coins... its here in the lists somewhere.
