I have an M6 and I am wanting to squeak out a little more depth without losing targets to masking. In general, which do you guys think is best, D2 or the 6x10?

I never thought the 6x10 was known for it's depth. Separation yes, depth no.

Thanks

What coil do you have on it now?

Assuming you are using the stock 950, the 6X10 will lose you depth and the D2 will pretty much be a draw unless you have very mineralized ground, you will get better separation with either to uncover masked targets though. To gain a little more depth with good separation, you will have to go to a larger coil like the 12X10 SEF or the 12X15 but weight becomes a factor with the larger coils.

[size=large]i watched the you tube vid that compared the 6x10 whites against the 8x6

[size=large]I watched the you tube video comparison with the 6x10 whites against the 8x6 SEF and would have to say for the MXT & m-6 machines I'd go with the SEF. i did get 6-7 in. just a week ago with my 6x10 on my V3i and the silver dime that came up was sitting on a nickel. very clear signal tho. as usual it's gunna depend on your ground and trash and your skill with the machine. here in the N.W. we have very materialized ground so the depth was good compared to the usual 6 or less that's gotten. depends also just how deep ya wanting to get and where. i got my one and only Ben Franklin Half at 8" with the D2 coil. that's a large coin to begin with but the signal was very strong and i felt it would have detected even if two more inches down. that's deep for me and here in my soil. i haven't found anything but iron any deeper so i can't say what the max is in my soil with these coils. just what I've found. that's about all anyone can say. they found this coin or whatever at this depth in this soil with this coil. then there is the experience of the user and the settings and so on. ya just get the coil you think will cover most of your hunting til ya can get it narrowed down to what you find is best.
Some of the info I've stumbled across in the last two yrs. is the D2 doesn't do well below around 10 volts. there was a big issue that came up about that. seems it surprised some of us newbies as we hadn't heard of this before. in the last couple of days there's been some info about smaller coils being affected badly by heat from being left in trunks of cars. these are minor inconveniences. they come with the coils. just would have liked to know this when i by one so i know how to care for it. like it or not that's all that's out there so there's nothing can be done but be aware of those things and treat your gear accordingly..

I have a 6X10 Eclipse and it is good but the 10X12 SEF Coil by Detech seperates just as well and is a lot deeper and weighs a little less.

when there are shallower targets or just a lot of potential masking targets in an area.

I am a fan of the M6 and MXT Pro, but I am especially a fan of the 6
