Ok, just order the 5x10 wide scan for my Tejon.

Snow has been melting the last few days. Still lots of snow and frozen ground but I'm ready :)

Can't wait to try this coil out. When it gets here I'll have to hit the school yard hunting the sand and snow.

You're really going to like that coil a whole lot on the Tejon.

It's light, has good ground coverage, has excellent separation, it can get into tight places and it gets really good depth. It likely will become a permanent attachment.

If you are referring to the Elliptical that comes standard on the LST, I bet that would be a good combo.

I may have to look into this coil..My soil here in MI is considerd mild..I mostly relic coin hunt and have always felt the DD's on tesoro's have liked the iron more than a concentric...

The Tejon is a relic hunter and does like larger iron. I like it that way. Never know what iron relic you will dig up.

The Tesoro 5"x10" elliptical wide-scan coil is definitely a good coil to use for mineralized ground or for those who just prefer to use DD coils. As stated above it is a good coil to use for ground coverage and since it's design deals with difficult ground better than concentrics some companies use wide-scans as their stock coil on new units. In the past some Tesoro units came stock with a DD type coil...not sure if any do now except for the LST? Tesoro use to (still do?) state in their literature that wide-scan coils will help with mineralized ground conditions better than concentrics but usually won't be able to discriminate between metals as well as concentrics. Having confidence in whatever you prefer to use I think will put more goodies in your bag as long as your doing the basics of metal detecting correctly. Best of luck out there and good hunting!

My brother Ron and I were both surprised to how well the coil combination works. I'd say that the discrimination problems will show worse when dealing with those rusty crown bottle caps, other than that I haven't seen any other problems.
I will say that as far as the looks department the solid 5"X 10" coils on any detector are at the bottom list, I mean they are much cooler looking coils, So, the Tesoro 5"X 10" shouldn't be judged by its looks. I think a lot of coils on the market are more eye candy than real performers.

Interesting. I am currently considering the 12x10 for my Tejon this year....What can I spray into my toggle switch to stop it from sticking open, without messing it up or voiding the warranty ?

I'm going to say if the switch is sticking I would just go ahead and send it back and let them repair it. The first Tejon I had had the same problem but mine didn't have any warranty on it because I had gotten it used. I tried several things to resolve the sticky switch problem, the best I found was some made for gun cleaning, its branded "Winchester" Break Free 'CLP'
Cleaner,
Lubricant,
Preservative,
Its an aerosol, it come out in a light foam. I turned the detector upside down and I only put enough at the base of the toggle to fill up the funnel shape area in the switch housing and then I worked the switch until the foam went into the switch.
I tried a couple of other products, but the Winchester stuff lasted the longest which was about a year of light use.
But I would suggest in your case to just send it back for repair.

Also, yours is the only other one I've heard of with a sticking toggle switch.
Below is a picture of the stuff I used on mine.

One other thing on the Tesoro 10 x 5 inch DD coil, I can pinpoint with it just like I can with a concentric coil. Watch the orange dot and how I keep the search coil angled when pinpointing a target. That's my neighbors yard next to my driveway, it loaded with all kinds of targets that got blown over into his yard when my yard service blows off my driveway. Sometimes I forget to pick up the coins, pull tabs, can slaw and other targets that I place on the driveway to do some testing with. When I do, they blow it over into his yard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPWO2Shb004

Quick question please , you guys are taking about the 5x10 wide scan for the 4 pin set ups . So my question is , do they make a 5x10 widescan for the 5 pin units. Thanks for any info. GS

This coil is only available for the Lobo ST, Tejon, Vaquaro, and Cibola. It comes standard on the Lobo ST.

Rick
The one that comes standard on the Lobo has a really LONG cable, if you buy a new one as an extra coil I think they have a short cable version.
