OK IFOUND THE TRIMPOTS NOW HOW DO I ADJUST THEM ??

i found the trimpots on the silver sabre plus ,now how do you adjust them,ie i presume the same way as normal groundbalance.
set your threshold ,then pump it up and down adjusting the trimpot rihgt or left,to to make it null or positive.
NOW WHERE DO I SET IT SO ITS JUST RIGHT ???
i had a go and can get the threshold so its pretty stable with a slight rise as you lift it up off the ground.
which brings me to another question , do you adjust the null + positive response while the coil is in contact with the ground,or approx 1nch about where you would detect at. ???
and should i set it slightly positive while lifting the coil.
all replies would be most appreciated. regards ken
ps the setting it was on when i got it was massively positive, large rise in sound as you lifted the coil.

If you get an increase in the threshold as you lift the coil you have the ground balance set too negative. You should set it to give no change or a very slight increase as you lift the coil, a slight increase would be better as it would result in fewer false signals. When you set the threshold, make sure you're holding the coil well off the ground, away from any metal and set it to a barely audible level. Also, be careful adjusting the pots, moving the setting just a little makes a big difference and you can damage them if you get too frisky.

thank you thats what i needed to know, your answer and ralphs on the tesoro forum on treasure depot has provided me with exactly the info i need.regards ken

ok just thought i would let you know, i took it out into the back block and adjusted the trimpots, TOOK A FAIR BIT OF FIDDLEN ,AS THE ADJUSTMENTS ARE SO PRECISE BUT FINALY GOT IT BALANCED JUST RIGHT. then proceeded to scan the ground in all metal GREAT TARGETS ALL OVER. so flicked it into discrimination,WHOAGH with senseitivity on 10 false break up signals, SO STARTED BACKING IT DOWN, settled down nicely at 6.so began searching again going over the targets i found in all metal mode,oh by the way discrim setting is on 1 minimum, most of targets blanked out ,[iron] dug a couple to check yep iron and nails, one target gave of a resounding clear signal coin or something good i thought. JUST TO SEE I UPPED THE DISCRIM BIT BY BIT UNTIL ON FULL, STILL GOOD SIGNAL ,SO I DIG APPROX 5INCHES LOVELY OLD COPPER 1896 PENNY. so i guess i got it right now. thanks all regards ken
