Has anyone repeatedly hunted for Civil War relics with the ctx3030 ? I understand that it's a coin/silver magnet but it does have a factory pre-set RELIC search mode and would like some feedback if you have used it for that purpose. Has anyone tried the RELIC mode ? Thanks. CCH

Two of us using 3030's were finding .69's at 8 to 15 inches last fall here in Illinois.........

CCH I mainly hunt relics in the fall and winter. Here in northern Arkansas bullets do not settle as deep as Larry had them in IL. I use Gonehuntings program for most of my detecting except in high trash areas and then I use the high trash mode.

Last winter I hit an old infantry camp in Missouri that we have hit hard over the years. The CTX worked great in an iron infested spot in the camp that we mostly avoided in the past. I found four .69s two colt revolving rifle bullets a nap sack hook and a 1851 Large cent which was the first coin we had found in this camp.

Ditto what Jim said. The CTX is a rock-solid relic machine. I have been pulling relics with it for over a year.

I mainly hunt relics in the cool weather and have dug the deepest bullets I have ever dug in over 40 years.

Nice deep flat button and quite a few spencer shells in a place that I rarely dug one due to their depth.

One of my last hunts before the heat got me I dug a perfect whole spencer bullet and cartridge.

It is also sensitive to percussion caps in the CO 50 mode.

I use low trash also, deep on, open screen and check the iffy signals.

A bullet 14-16" down is not going to give a great signal and/or target ID, that is why I find them and most people don't or never will.

Great machine too if you are expecting any rain and don't mind if you get wet. Friends I know love theirs on the beach as well.

I also set a personal record in this small patch of woods with 21 bullets in about 3 hours after I had hunted it with a V3I about 15 times averaging 12 each hunt.

The V3i is no slouch either since I got some 14" measured with it.

Just want to add, we have good ground here so not sure how it would do in bad ground

Thanks to all thus far. Please keep posting on this topic as I am carefully considering this machine for relics also. C C H

I pulled an eagle shield infantry button at 8-9"
