I understand that the Xterra 70 and 705 has a prospecting mode, and i read somewhere people r using it to tell if its worth digging your target up. My question is, what about haloed iron? Will the prospecting mode still go off with haloed iron or a bigger piece of iron? 2nd question, whats the deal with a 3mhz coil? Does it see silver and NOT iron better? Im not to worried that it goes deeper.Im just hoping it can see conductive (coins or buttons) and ignore iron without having any discrimination. thanx

Prospecting Yes, but to tell if worth digging I think it would be the other way around. Prospecting is to the best of my knowledge a nondiscriminating all metal mode without any target ID at all. It does have an iron mask though.

The rest of your ? I couldn't answer well at all

If you dont use any discrimination, and your detector does not have inbuilt discrimination against iron, then you will detect every bit of iron within reach of your detector's "hearing".

Hey hey, I have used prospect mode a few times to id iron or keeper. I have done this with the preset IM at 5. The 3 Khz coil is very good on higher condive targets, but I found the 10.5 @7.5 Khz DD is better in my ground conditions. I can run the sens at 28 most places and gain depth over the LF coil due to falsing. Well just my thoughts, HH L8R.
