I haven't been detecting for at least a month and a half; the outside temperature was about 50, but it was blowing like crazy.

The place I went today dates back to 1740; this is part of the field. I parked my truck next to the Burkeville tavern, circa mid-1700's. Across the street from the tavern was the tavern owners house (now privately owned), also mid-1700's.
OK, I'm going to share something with you all that I learned today... be sure and listen up. After drinking a triple shot espresso~ NEVER go detecting 50 miles from your house while detecting in a field 3/4 mile from your truck with no bathroom for MILES. After detecting for about an hour, I discovered why they call them espressos! I had three dollars burning a hole in pocket on the way to go detecting so thought I'd get an espresso. I nearly burnt a hole in my pants somewhere else!... nuff said.

First decent find was this Civil War bullet at 3 1/2". This field's been hunted hard for 30 years, so I don't know how they missed this one.

Next, I found this button that has "Blue Bugler" written on it. Not sure what that is, I guess I'll try and do a search. Might be a button off of some turn of the century farmer's overalls or something.

Was getting a real iffy signal in one direction. I only dug it because it was deep, at about 8". I dug this 2 piece button; unfortunately, the front had been crushed in and was gone... bummer.

Here's my digs for the day, not including all the junk. I dug 2 bullets, 2 buttons, an old turn handle, some sort of weighing scale that says "Turnbull's Patent Balance No. 2" and goes up to 24 lbs. Dug a horse shoe at 12", and some square nails.
Well, beats a jab in the eye with a sharp stick.
