I got the coil in friday and installed it on my xterra 50. I went out to my mini coin garden, quarter, dime, nickle and penny buried at 6 inchs. It hit all of them loud and clear in all metal and sensitivity of 20. Impressive! I took it into town to a vacant lot that recently had a old house razed on it. I have found wheats, seated dimes at this site with another metal detector. It was like a new site with the little coil on it. The ground here is rock hard so I was just looking at maybe 2 inch or less targets and I stumbled across a old ww1 or maybe ww2 crossed rifle insignia which rang out clear at 42 vdi. Same as a quarter gives. What I really liked was being able to size the target with that blade like frequency. Very easy to do. I then went to a local park and a bark covered tot lot. I ground balanced and started searching at the bail out area on the swings. I got a nice signal of 27 vdi and kicked the bark around and found a very small rivet from clothing. I did notice the vdi numbers are not the same as the large factory coil was but I am a tone hunter most of the time. I also noticed you have to sweep this coil faster than the 9.5 factory coil to get a clear lock on to the target. This coil was showing good targets at 8-10 inchs but my lesche trowle is not up to the task of going that deep in this hard ground right now. Will hit it again after a good rain. I would like an opinion or two on a larger coil for beach work. I like the little coil but I think something larger in a dd would be better at the beach considering the area you have to cover. So my question is- a dd in the medium frequency or the high frequency?

The 7.5 DD 10.5 inch is a great all around coil, but for the beach you might consider the 18.75 due to the fact that it picks up small gold better. Like chains, small rings and the like.
