I am only a coin shooter and do most of my hunting in City parks. My main detector is an Explorer II but am looking at another machine to try out. I want it to be a keeper! I have heard of the Electrical interference problems but have heard of the fantastic response and separation abilities of the T2. My soil is mildly mineralized. So what is everyone's honest opinion? Need some help in making a decision between the T2 or possibly the MXT.

All i can say is mine is "NOT FOR SALE" and Iv been hunting since 1983.
I'v used just about all the brands> My last md was a whites xlt great md but the T2 is so much better and the learnning curve is nill.

Using the T2 is like a breath of fresh air. Everyday is a new opportunity to increase your finds and set new personal goals. Thats all I can say.

ive never had any interferance problems, and when im out looking for gold, im near a tv, radio, and cellular tower, i think it was the early machines, never any problems in town either, i love it.

All most all of the Good sites have been Hunted and the good ones are hard to come by. I do know that there are allot of Keepers out there in sites that have been Hunted Hard and Virgin Sites, My Point is there Masked by Iron and Trash and In my O pion there is Not a Better Detector to my knowledge that will pull out some Awesome Finds that are Masked.
I have gone to Parks that I and others have Hunted for many years and I had some great times again at these Parks with my T2 not to mention the old home sites I have gone back and re hunted. The T2 has put Fun Back in to Metal Detecting for many of us.

I have used a T2 for over a year and I love it but I will honestly tell you that if you only coinshoot and in parks etc, I would not recommend the T2, unless lightweight is a major consideration. It really is a great detector and it is very light but if I were coinshooting in mild soil I would go with the MXT or maybe a CZ3D, for the "old coin" program, but the T2 also has the "old coin" program: (4 tone). A Cibola or a Cortes might be a good choice too. In any case, you cannot go wrong with an MXT.

There are two reasons I would tell you to think about whether you want the T2. First, it is a really sensitive detector and it will signal on every little tiny piece of metal. You will think there is something wrong with it at first but it is not chatter it just hear's every little thing in the ground. Second, is the interference. Frankly. I have had very little problem with the electrical interference, only squarely under power lines and even then it is usable, just a bit noisy. It is absolutey unusable if there are underground utilities or invisible fencing for dogs but other detectors are too...

Now, it is a good coinshooter if you are willing to endure a couple of months of getting used to it. You will start to find things right off with it and it will unmask targets like you wont believe. It just takes getting used to, you have to be willing to listen to a lot of grunts and beeps, but you will get used to it. I relic hunt mostly but I also coinshoot and I usually use the T2 for it because of it's weight and comfort. I find, however, that mine, in most conditions, does not lock right in on a TID number, but it jump's around a bit. I have learned to read it though. The F75 might be another machine to think about.
