Do NOT leave an expensive metal detector in the car trunk! Fortune really shone upon me. I noticed the sun moved onto the trunk in the evenings. I had always parked it under the giant pecan tree and just happened to notice this miscue. I decided to use my MX5 after a few weeks and when I turned it on OVERLOAD came on the screen and a constant loud audio. I finally was able to take out the batteries and that seemed to reset it to factory. I had to redo everything, but after 15 minutes, it began to smooth out. It worked as normal for an hour before the heat got to ME! Oh, it's in the living room with me, now.
