OK, here is what I found by experimenting (air testing) with the F75)

This is all "air testing" so count that for what it is. Its 37 degrees here today I'm to much of a girly man to go brave the wind. Sad but true.

First I went to freq 6 and 7 which helped the audio a bit. Sounded better to the ear. I settled on freq 7.

I then ran the sens up to 45, notch 1, JE mode, descrim 10 and switched the # of tones to 1. That helped even more with the audio quality. My problem seems to be better. I guess my problem was trying to run 4H tones. The 4H high tones sound like crap in my opinion in JE mode. So if you try JE mode be sure and experiment with 1 or 2 tones.

I then tried to experiment with the perceived depth difference while in JE mode. When I ran the sens to 45ish in JE mode which I have to do because of falsing, it will get a signal further way that while in DE mode at sens 85ish. The JE mode will "pick up" the coin further away but a very weak signal. Probably one I would dismiss as trash. Like I said before its not good enough of a signal that I would probably stop to investigate, but it does pick it up. Its not much of a depth increase but it is some.

As of now in not sure JE mode has much advantage but I will keep playing with it. The DE mode with high sens does very well!

At least my problem seems to be fixed. Hope the new setup does as well in actual dirt (haha) as it did in my garage.....ha ha ha

Any and all input would be appreciated!

Thanks for posting the air test information. I sort of thought there might be a little more difference between the JE mode and the DE mode, but I guess since you were able to put the sensitivity nearly twice as high in the DE mode, maybe that sort of evened the playing field between the two modes. I did have a question though. I noticed you set the discrimination to 10, but then notched 1. I don't have my F75 yet, but I plan on having one soon; however, if you notch numbers below your discrimination, aren't you in essence adding them back in? Did you mean to do that? Since I don't have a machine to look at, maybe there is a 0 notch, I don't know, but I was just thinking you might be adding the numbers back in that you discriminated out. It might be interesting to see what the air test shows if you put the discrimination to zero and didn't notch anything. Just a thought. Jeff
