Hi everyone, I am new to water detecting as of this year and with all the rain the water is high enough that I have not got out as of yet but that is ok because I really bought a water detector for the extreme hot dry days when land detecting is not a option(all though I do want to get out and play with my new toy a little bit). So far here is my water set-up: Tesoro tiger shark detector, a pair of frogg togg waders, complete with wading belt and wading boots, I also bought a pair of neoprene dive socks to wear just with the wading boots and shorts when it gets extremely hot, my old columbia fishing vest with plenty of pockets for rain jacket, finds and a couple dry boxes that I purchased for cell, keys etc. polarized sun glasses and also a borrowed heavy steel sand scoop to use until I purchase my own stainless steel model(I didn't want to push the envelope on another item with the wife right now:laugh:). Just wondering if I need a floating sifter which is something I can make myself if I need one. I will also purchase gloves soon also. Am I missing anything? Also what is everybody else's set up?

Looks like you are ready to go....I think a sifter is necessary when you scoop up lots of material that fills the scoop, but does not shake out..it's easier to pile it into a sifter and spread it out.
I guess we got it pretty good here in the South....Detector,scoop,hat,sunglasses,beach shoes, sun block,....and your ready to go!! Good Luck

Missing one thing. When I go into a river with waders, and I usually do when there is still ice in the water, you should be wearing a floatation device/live perserver vest. Maybe I error a little on the safe side, but I enjoy seeing my wife and kids every night. When the water is warmer I don't wear waders or life vest, just shorts and shoes. Early in the year when water levels are high, current is swift, and water is cold, the life vest is a must to stay safe. One slip in the cold water and current and that could be all she wrote. I also own a tiger shark and am a freshwater hunter (no oceans in wisconsin). I also had a hard time pushing the wife to cut me loose for a good water scoop. I just kept telling her it is almost impossible with this home made scoop to find diamond rings. She told me well get that dam scoop then! That's all fine and great, BUT now I gotta produce!
