WHATS THE DEEPEST MODE ON THE MXT-------C&J ,RELIC ,PROSPECTING?DO NOT KNOW MUCH ON THE PROSPECTING MODE:confused:MOSTLY USE COIN & JEWLERY.THANKS GUYS.-----------------------------------------------------------BILL

Pulled out a 1929 silver Quarter at about 6 inches with the 10 DD coil.
I hunt lots of ball fields, soccer , and school yards so very careful on digging depth.
Use Coin and Jewelry mode exclusively.

That's easy, Prospecting. You'll get an argument between relic and C/J. Rob

I hunt 99% in the relic mode...Dug an Eagle button this year at 11 inches....I often flip to prospecting mode to get a percentage on the iron count if I get an iffy signal...

George

The MXT will get a 6" quarter with just about any coil and in any mode. My ground has lot of iron. Rob

I've had an aluminium can at 30 inches in relic mode with a 10x6dd coil. I also got an old miners pick head at 36 inches in prospecting mode with the 15x18 SEF Butterfly coil.

I think relic and prospecting are pretty equal when it comes to depth with perhaps prospecting going a little deeper whilst on the same settings. HOWEVER. I think it goes deeper if ground balance is locked and discrimination turned to zero. In prospecting with the sat speed turned to the slowest setting moving dead slow deeper again.

Depends what size target i'm after. I have pinged a 0.2gram split shot sinker at 5 inches with the 15x18 butterfly coil. I believe that was about as good as it gets for small targets and a VLF machine. (I was looking for gold.)

Dicko..

I don't use the prospect mode to coin hunt but;

Prospecting Mode is an All Metal Pin Point with an Active Auto Tune Assist, or SAT.
All Metal Mode is a separate SINGLE channel and by-passes the MOTION FILTERS used by the Discrimination Mode, you can hear a target about 30% deeper and smaller.

Now to answer what coil. I've got quarters at 6" with the 6"EX, 8" Ex, 10" Ex and the standard 9.5 coil.

I know Monte does super with the 5.3 but I'll let him tell you how deep he gets.

Rob

I have been finding dimes and clad pennies at 8 to 9 inches with the CJ mode with the 10inchdd coil. It is frustrating to have to dig that deep for a clad penny....For prospecting, the 6X10 is a better coil and yes it too will go deep but in mineralized ground, it will do a better job than the 10 inch dd coil.

My gain was set at +1 usually, depending on ground conditions and the SAT was always set full super SAT. This is what makes this a fantastic gold machine. With the SAT wide open, you get just a buzz and lots of gold. I was detecting with a professional prospector. He has been doing this full time for 30 years and was using a 400 Minelad. He found one fingernail nugget at a foot and a half deep and I found 2 same size nuggets at 4 to 6 inches deep. I really think that White's MXT is taken for granted too much as a gold detector.
