[attachment 49846 correctedloopconnection.jpg]Okay what I am looking for here is a little criticism and ways to improve this~! Please if you have a photo or two! I was browsing through some pics of water machines and noticed the harness strap is very light weigh looking. This leather luggage strap seems to do the job but once it gets warm, I would like something lighter. Also ways to improve/clean up the look my sling has, I want to use only one bungee but seem to get better balance by having second on. Just thought I could get some help pictures here from some of you!:detecting: Oh yeah look how happy my wife is to wear my sling

The only thing I see wrong is the bungee is too long. Either find the correct length or cut it off. Post back a picture of the new version. I like any modification. Your doing good!

I bought a bungee from a supplier on another forum that I used on my MXT. It was designed to be used with the big Mine Lab gold detectors. It sure takes the strain off of your arm when hunting for 8 to 10 hours a day. I also use it when using my GB II with a 14" coil. Any large coil will get heavy after several hours of swinging.

Well in my original post on the DFX forum the idea was just to grab a few items laying around the house and do it for free. That worked and now I am maybe just interested in possibly a better strap to put over shoulders, and a photo or two. It works fine so i dont really need to spend $30 or more. I was hoping for a little better response! Thought a few people using water machines with harness/sling type devices might post a picture, but if not will maybe try a hardware store. Also seems I should be able to go with one bungee and maybe a plastic loop around shaft to hold and adjust bungee better.

You have a nice start but now you can refine it. Here is how.

Try using a doubles 1/8" elastic cord found in most West Marine supply stores. Adjust the length so that the elastic cord supports the weight of the metal detector and your arm so that you can just use your arm to guide and glide the metal detector over the ground.

On my sling, I used a 1" wide web strap that is used for a sail tie with a small loop on one end. I slip the small loop through my belt in the center of my lower back then I tie a knot or use a plastic web fitting about 18" to 20" above my belt loop to make a larger loop to put over my head and rest on my shoulders. In the center of this larger loop, that lays about 6" to 8" under my chin, I attach the doubled 1/8" elastic cord using a plastic hook and a small plastic triangle, also available at the West Marine supply store. With this setup the metal detector weight is transferred to my waist belt and does not rest on my neck.

This setup has served me well for many years for beach hunting with a Minelab Sovereign and a WOT coil.

Thanks for the ideas if you have a picture would be nice. But movement of the weight shifted to the belt does sound good.

That looks to beable to do the same job as the Swingy thingy for $29.95 form a online dealer.

Looks like a nice setup done quite cheaply...As the weighting and ergonomics are superior with your unit one wonders why its needed. That said I guess we are all different in size strentgth and the like and whatever works...

Dan actually I don't know why I need it. I think I have arthritis in my right shoulder. But I am not kidding it makes swinging extremely easy! I do get a little tightness in the neck but put a towel inside of strap and it helps relieve the pressure. I actually have modified the sling again. I am down to one bungee, will post a follow up picture sometime in future.

Also it is nice not to have to take a break and set detector down...I can just let go! It stays right at my side. It gets really cold here and also allows me to move my fingers around more when they they numb.

[attachment 52982 frntskyhook.jpg][attachment 52983 bungee1.jpg]Can you post a picture of the bungee you purchased? I am posting a couple of pictures:detecting:

Looks good to me:punch:
