OK....Gold Coin ID on C$ and Excel......

The 1847 $5 gold minted in Charlotte, NC (Home of the Carolina Panthers who pounded the Patriots earlier today:poke: ) shows an ID of "18" on the Excel and "19" on the Coinstrike. I would expect a $1 or $2 1/2 would come in lower and a $10 or $20 would be considerably higher. Hopefully one of us will find another one! Then we can all laugh at YOUR gold dance!

but it wasn't gold  But I'll take an IH anyday. :detecting:

and wouldn't you know on the Excel they read +10. But the difference with these is, that you do the chicken dance after you eat them, not find them.

So for all you guys out there detecting the mall parking lots, while the wife is in spending more on shoes than you'll ever spend on detectors, +10 is what you're looking for under those parked cars.:spin:

I know the guy there has a few "real" gold coins.......cause I'm always tryin' to get 'em cheap ;) He's let me test all the rings there before which is pretty cool of him (since I never find my own) He said he gets a couple calls a week asking for metal detectors, which is kinda interesting. Says he can't keep 'em on the shelf......

something like a stone checked out I have a coin dealer that I go to that also sells estate jewelry. Once in a while he gives good prices on rings but usally eBay or refiners are better. I might have mentioned this before but the last time I was there he had a 1796 bust quarter. worth around $35,000.00

I have tested a lot of rings, mostly bands and after a while you can look at them and guess pretty close to where they will hit. I haven't a clue on gold coins other than what I have seen people post. I'm glad Tony mentioned the $5.00 gold hitting at 18, I always dig the IH signals so maybe some day.....:D

I was surprised it hit that high......& +18 is a definate hot area for indian heads & buttons for me, so who knows what might show up...... Just keep dig'n I guess ;)

the 1963 dime I found with the Excel at the coast this week hit at +31 to +33, not like a clad dime at +28.

one of them rotten zincs a couple feet down below it.

Man I could never go back to a detector that uses target segments instead of a numeric readout. When I had the CZ-5 I dug anything within reason including the bouncers. Having ID numbers instead of segments is neat for when you get those out of zone odd readings cuz I like to guess what it may be before I dig and it gives us something to talk about on here too.

Oh BTW, if anyones wondering why I have been so blabby today, its cuz I'm home sick and bored. If my posts don't make sense blame it on the meds.
Yeh, yeh thats right,, the meds!
