Went for a solo spin sunday evening to leadsville at 8P into a 931p 0.6lL and N winds 5-10. It was not too chilly when I started and had worn my wetsuit, hoping to get a little hunting in the mine, with the Excal. Air temp and water temp were about 60, when I began.

Found a different location along where I hunt and it had a good amount of sinkers and coin. Got $4.07 in clad, but this was helped substantially by the 1971 Kennedy half, only my 2nd of these in the water.

About midway in the hunt, I got this nice low tone and dug it. Coiled in the bottom of the scoop was this gold glimmer and I knew it was a chain, then I saw the nugget. I was very excited and praised the Lord and thanked him for this wonderful treasure. OBTW, I kneeled and prayed before I started. I think He honors that! Anyway, I carefully coiled it up and stuck it in my mesh recovery bag. I started to get chilled around 130A and quit. Undressed and put on some dry clothes and my teeth were really chattering after I got out of the water! Finally got thawed about the time I got home and did not clean the equipment and sort finds till this morning, but just showered and went to bed.

It is marked .417 (10K) Italy on the chain clasp, but there is no mark on the nugget. It weighs 16.7Gs, total weight. I gave the nugget a scrape, just in case it was a higher grade of gold. Used 10, 14 and 18K test acids and it holds on 14K, but lighter than the 10K. 18K ate it away pretty quick. Probably would have to have it assayed for 100%, but it possibly could be somewhere between 10 and 14K. Sorry it took so long to post, but had to knap, so I could go do it again tonight!
