I have been using a CZ 7a for 2 or 3 weeks now and really like it. Of all the CZs, old and new, witch do you all like for trashy parks? I have some old parks with old silver deep, but lots of trash. Would the CZ3D go get the old stuff? Or do you think the trash would stop it? Do you think the CZ 70 would be better? Please give me your thoughts. Thanks Dean
All of the CZ's are pretty close to the same in performance. The only difference is the CZ-3D has 4 tones and you'll dig more trash but if you're in the right type of sites you'll dig more old coins because it places more coins in the high tone range. If you're in the wrong type areas like newer homesites from 1950's to the present or parks dated after 1950, there is no advantage to the 3D. The key is not to notch out iron on any CZ. That way you will hear the low tone for iron and iron will not false high tone. Listen to every target and set the CZ-7a up on zero disc and it'll do fine in the trashiest of areas. Swing at a slow pace and you'll be able to pick out the good stuff. CZ's are not the best in trashy areas but with the 5 inch coil you can hunt with the best and it gets excellent depth on coin sized targets. The CZ-7a Pro was my all time favorite CZ and I've owned them all.
I've used a CZ6a, CZ5 and a CZ20. To pick between the trash; use the 5 inch coil. From what I've read and observed from others using CZ's next to mine, don't think there is much difference performance wise between models, although individual detectors may be a little hotter or cooler than other ones. I've read about notching out trash with some of the digital CZ's but have no personal experience with those.

Basically a CZ is a CZ no matter what make or model usually exceptionally deep depending on its tuning but it is easily masked and not your best trashy park unit and that includes the newest model the CZ3D which gives you a choice of two modes for old and new areas. I would think a digital CZ because of its superior notching abilities would be my choice used with the hockey puck 5 inch coil hunted slowly for your situation..Heck at 2-3 weeks just getting your feet on the ground and must have used my original CZ6 for 6 months until I felt comfortable with the unit.
Unfortunately one unit won't do it all and most ardent detectorists have 2 or 3 to handle most situations.
I wouldn't trade my CZ5 for anything out there today. It may be older technology but it will still kick most detectors butts today. Look at the build quality, super depth, and the ease of use and it's easy to see why the CZ's are so popular.
