I am a die hard Minelab Explorer fan. Currently have the Explorer II and know it very well. It has done me proud many times. Just got an Etrac. Mainly planning to hunt old yards looking for old coins and relics here in SW MI. May wander east some and hunt for CW relics from time to time. Would love to hear some of your favorite programs mainly for old yards and old parks and fairgrounds. Thanks guys.

I'm not a relic guy so I'd go for the factory relic type setting and learn from there.
Sabich's book on the Explorer and e-trac has a great pattern for areas of average trash but I like to open it up from about 8 to 14 all the way to the left of the smart screen for gold. Makes it a bit noisy but once you learn the tones in multi conductive it becomes tolerable.
When the modern trash(aluminum) is light , try the TTF discussed at the top of the forum at old houses and such. Dig everything that's not iron tone and enjoy.

I only use 3 patterns,

I normally run the Andy S. discrimination with my own conductive settings. Then sometimes I will overlay the Bill S. Trashy park program or the third one is a modified Bill S. where I open up the screen from 30 to 35 ferrous and I run TTF.

You will love using TTF in iron infested yards.

The Etrac is very good but so is the EX II

How to use the Etrac..... (1) only disc. out FE 28 and higher; and (2) only dig deep 04-41 signals that read good from both directions.

You will be a very happy fellow. :clapping:

Joe

I only use two patterns: Andy's Coin Program and the TTF as described at the top of the ETrac forum page.

You won't regret changing to the ETrac. Andy Sabisch (who sold me my ETrac and taught me how to hunt) put his Explorer down and only hunted with the ETrac when it came out.

Get ready for your silver tally to go up quickly!
