#1.. Welcome to the wonderful world of the XLT!
#2.. The XLT has a lot of potential, once you master it. The XLT can be programed to work better than a factory set program for most areas.
#3.. The XLT can easily be screwed up so bad that the performance will be utterly atrocious! You'll wonder what the heck you paid good money for and swear that it just plain stinks! In this case, refer back to #1 to understand that you are not/have not been alone, and refer to #2 to appreciate the fact that YOU have to learn it. YOU have to be in control, and the best was is by taking it easy, and get to know which functions you ought to just leave alone, as well as which ones to use, how much to adjust them and what they might interact with.
Now, to your post:
"I am a newbie and have the XLT for just three days. I have read the manual about five times and watched the video three times. I have just two questions:... You only have two questions AT THIS TIME. Great detector, you just need patience to master it.
"(1) How do I edit or clear a custom program?".... Start by MAKING a "custom program" and I suggest you do that by starting with the factory RELIC program. Make ONLY ONE OR TWO CHANGES at first that will not effect field performance much. Mainly, adjust the Audio Threshold to a low level you can just hear with the headphones you're using.
