OK ALL YOU EXPLORER OWNERS

Well-known member
Ok let"s have some truth here...If someone came up to you and said....hey I will trade you my used E-TRAC for your used EXPLORER......Would you do it?
Let's just take for granted that they cost the same!

My EXPLORER SE seems to me to be easier to use than the E-TRAC...I have both.....It seems like all I dig up is nails?...Seems to me my Se go deeper to ME.
Just my opinion?.......Both have the pro coil.

Are you out of your mind?

Ill trade you on the spot lickity split and try all my best hunts with mister E...If it doesn't perform as good or better than ill go back cause EX sure does a great job gettin to China. And cuddles up real nice when I'm cold too.

Seems you know how to use an SE, and be prepared for the ETrac groupies (all twenty of them of the 15,000 sold, by the way) to tell you that you don't know how to use an ETrac. Be real careful with truth here, because if it doesn't match somebody else's truth........well then you must be just a slandering liar.:detecting: I love Mine Lab for the wonderful products they make me, just the Etrac is definitely not one of them, and them letting Dick and Sandy go just might be a hint of their present and future equally bad decisions. If you stick with your Etrac, it will find some coins that you missed with your SE, in very thick trash, but you are going to dig allot of nails to get them. Seems to me, you could have dug 30 IFFYS in the same area with your SE and ended up with the same few coins.

Even in the trash with the pro coil ...you can really hear a lot...It seems like if you wiggle the coil ....you can really hear what's down there...O and by the way ...when my Se finds a nickel ,It says yah hoo. My buddy uses a E-TRAC and does great(his first minelab)...I don't know why I can"t do like him?...It just seems like I have a more solid feeling using the SE!

I have used the XS, II, SE Pro, and E-Trac extensively and done well with all of them over the years...all can find coins, relics, jewelry to impressive depths for sure...some master one better than others it seems. I like the dual digital display of the EX II over the single conductive of the XS plus the EX II stand, carbon fiber rod, and 1050 FBS coil. I'm just not a fan of the SE Pro sounds and the way it hits compared to the XS and II. I prefer the Ex II overall and we are all entitled to our personal opinion. The E-Trac has many, many great attributes over an Explorer but I just can't stand all the nulling and the necessity of using conductive sounds in iron with iron mask. I pretty much know what I'm digging with an Explorer by sound alone without having to look at the screen plus each type of coin or trash target has a pretty specific sound combined with a ferrous AND conductive ID that you just can't do on the E-Trac. I really think the E-Trac is a great relic machine for those who want to dig it all for the most part...the Pro coil may very well be one of the biggest factors in the equation but not all of course. I like to hear it all-that's why I like my CZ-70 Pro and Explorer II since you listen to it all and let your ears decide what sounds good and what to dig. I would take a new Explorer II over the E-Trac-in fact, a NIB Explorer II arrived today that cost $875 from a Minelab dealer with the 1050 FBS coil that's staying here for good :) New technology is great but I don't think I really need anything better since most places I hunt are virgin. I can truly understand why some need the latest to pull out good stuff from beat to death places since there isn't much else around but I think that depends on your own personal situation for sure...JMHO...HH

I'd probably think he was trying to pass a hot (stolen) machine. Don't trust fellas walking up trying to pass something on me - money or trade.

I wouldn't trade my EXII for one. I have an F75 that's faster and has more resolution (1-99 TID). When I'm tired of digging 80% trash and listening to it go ape sh*t with EMI, I just go back to my EXII. I'm a little upset with Minelab on the initial marketing of the ETRICK.

Good question. I wasn't sure I was going to like the E-Trac, so I still have my SE Pro, which to me was easier to just go with, as the E-Trac was different, but it's honestly not that hard to learn, or do well with. I'm impressed with it, but also love the Explorer. It's a real toss up to be honest I don't know.

Hey digitrich,
if your following this thread....you are one of the few if only person I have seen on this fourm not like the E but still like the EX. Thanks for being straight up about that. would you please tell me why you think the E hit more bad targets than the EX and if you think that could be changed on the machine. I am asking because I am very close to changeing machines cause I like my EX but want the rachet pinpointing so I can use that detector on nice lawns once in a while without digging the snot out of the yard ( Ive used an ex scince the XS came out and dont like taking the time it takes to really pinpoint good..the same sound xing drives me nuts) I can pinpoint right on if I want to but its so much faster to just dig (shovelhead) I really liked the RAchet pinpoint on Whites machines and was looking forward to the E with it. But I have done well with the EX and was hopeing the machine was better at ID ing but dont want to find it false targets like you've suggested. Your take would be appreciated.

World wide there has to be at least 5 to 7 thousand because the serial numbers started out at 12,000 (here in the states), (10,000 in Europe?) if I remember correctly and I think they are selling 16,000 and 17,000 serial numbers now, maybe higher. Someone who just got an ETrac could post what serial number they are up to.

Mine is 13,781 and I have had it for a couple months?........I just went out and compared signals with my se......the E-TRAC is in stock coin program....deep on- fast off...auto sens.+3 ..seems like my Se hits harder.............Could you use the E-TRAC with ferrous sounds?...I wonder what that would be like?....or is everything to bunched up?.....I know I must be doing something wrong....my buddy sure finds a lot with his.....maybe he is mr. lucky?..Maybe I just have the explorer curse...You know the one where all your brain hears is explorer ferrous!!!!! Shoot I have a hard time with my F70 and cz3d...after using my SE!...But when it goes yah hoo on a nickel and plays that sweet silver sound....How could you listen to anything else?

I don't think I would , I'm happy with the Explorer , I've gotten to know it and I'm very comfortable with it .All the new bells and whistles of the E-Trac would be a waste on me . I'm not a total Dinosaur though as I have one of the 11" pro coils on order .

H H ,
George

Let us know how the pro coil works for you ....once you get it!.............I LOVE IT !!!!!....LIGHT DEEP AND SEPARATES.

I'll do that . Everyone that I know who has one says the same thing .

I'd tell them to keep the E=12. I'll stay with the SE.

I has an Explorer II for years. Ground conditions always were a problem here. The Etac is the smoothest most stable machine I have used thus far. It has had no problem finding things among the nulls so for me it is an improvement. I do miss the Explorer because of my knowing it so well though.
