Oh So Slow.

Over the past two days I have spent about 6 hours at a "Worked out" park in town with my Sovereign GT. I do not know how many times I have been over this park. I have been working real SLOW and investigating each target carefully listening for those High tones that the GT produces when it is something that I might want to invite to come home with me.

Have not covered a lot of area. But as slow as I am working I did not expect to. At one time the park was a ball field and now it is mostly tennis courts. I drool when I thing of all the good targets that have to be under the asphalt of the courts.

My last three trips to that park have rewarded me with one 1944 Merc and one 1961 Rosie . Last two trips resulted in 13 clad dimes to go along with the Rosie. The targets that I am finding are Deep. The dimes have been down about 5 inches and some of the Lincolns were down in the 8-9 inch range. Lots of digging for very little reward but When one of the targets comes out of the dirt with that silver shine then my heart rate goes up a little.

George, nice work, your tactics are like mine, after the park gets worked over I slow down to a snails pace.Your silver looks great. Thanks Ron

Real nice trophys there Geo! Sometimes its good to get off the sand and punch a few holes in the sod....makes a guy a better overall hunter and a fellow dont wear out in one discipline too soon if a guy has access to both..:clapping:

Yes George you are seeing what going slow can do and why I tell everyone that knows there Sovereigns well that going slow to find the signals then doing the Sovereign wiggle to ID it the best you can. Some of the deep ones maybe so weak sounding that the ID on a meter or the tones may not be correct, but you can hear and see them trying to climb to the correct ones, but just cant do it. I have dug some deep merc dimes the best ID on my 180 meter was 135 that were around 10-12 inches deep, just takes going real slow to hear those weak tone changes when it see a target whether good or bad.
I find going this slow is good for those areas that have been worked hard over the years as the loud signals of clad and those not so deep targets are gone so you can listen close to those weak signals.
Expect you to see more finds from this worked out area by going slow and listening close.

Good Luck
Rick
