We were pretty annoyed with having to use two keys all the time; the home front static was getting to me ! A customer had installed a Schlage coded keypad lockset on his garage man door; fell in love with it and had to have one. Pricey at $159.00 Can, before the blankety- blankety taxes ! Comes in 3 or more different finishes, with or without a lever handle. Electronic, 9 volt battery, illuminated keypad for night access and a positive mechanical locking action, you know the door is locked. Two keys do come with it for manual access if needed. Can be coded for up to 19 different people or set up with temporary codes for tradesmen (Tradesgirls too !) A Weiser version I looked at was all electronic, no mechanical throw of the deadbolt, you would have to tug on the door to be sure it was locked. No thanks !

Keypad tip I just learned, any kind of keypad, house or garage, a thief will look for the worn or dirty keys; keep them clean and change the code if in doubt.

Deadlocks by the way, the bolt must be fully extended to its full throw; otherwise, the bolt could be possibly jimmied.

Gotta keep our 'tecting finds safe and secure, right ?
