everyone that has found gold here could you please post what it showed up as on your screen? was it foil, pulltab, etc......

it seems the more I read the more I will need to dig all signals because I don't want to miss gold.

and also if you were using an ace 250 what mode were you hunting in?

We can give you a specific notch as to where we found a particular ring, but the bottom line is that they can show up from notch 3 (thin ladies gold rings) to about notch 7 (large mens gold rings).
Best advice. Hunt places that they are most likely to be. Around and in water, and around play equipment. I have found 2 in lawn, but that is not normal. Some say that I'm not normal either, but we'll just keep that between us.

With respect to the Ace I have found gold on the left side of the screen, while silver shows up on the right side in the coin area.
Don't know if that helps you much.

I have found gold rings on the ACE machine anywhere from foil to pulltab. Mens rings tend to hit the nickel/pulltab notch and finer ladies rings show up in the foil or nickel area. One thing is for sure, if you aren't digging some trash, you aren't digging gold. Gold signals to the experienced ear are slightly smoother and softer, but only a subtle difference. I run mine in all metal all the time and use my ears as the discrimination, mostly because I want to know what type of ground I'm in and what type of signals are beneath the coil.

Gold tends to bounce around a bit as far as what indicator lights up, depending on what the gold item is. Personally I've only found gold chains and no rings yet. One chain was a 20" 14k, barely deep enough to be buried in the shallow roots of the grass. It barely blipped when I went over it in Jewelry Mode even after sweeping half a dozen times. But that's what you can expect with chains because the machine only sees one link at a time. Another 14k chain was teeny tiny but had a gold pendant with diamond chips attached to it, it hit pretty hard on nickel and jumped to penny a couple times, giving both the solid tone and the belltone. Practice with your wedding band if you have one (it's recommended you do this when your wife is NOT around if you bury it) and any other gold items you own. It's frustrating that gold doesn't reach out and smack the machine with a solid bang like silver does, but that's the nature of the beast.

All the gold rings I have found locked on nickel. I might have missed some by not digging those jumpy nickel signals. My wife's wedding rig is white gold (nothing but the best for her). Anyhow, it doesn't lock on nickel. It hit's nickel then jumps a few notches to the right and back. Dig the blocked ones or all, your choice.

Gold reads from high iron to zinc penny. I have been hunting for thirty years. Found well over 100 gold rings. Recently sold some of the gold because prices are very high. First sold over eleven hundred dollars and then seven hundred and thirty eight dollars. Recently found one gold ring that appraised for $2000.00.Found that ring with An Ace 250. It read right in the middle of the pulltab range. The trick to finding gold rings is not just to dig everything wherever you happen to be but to hunt locations where gold rings are likely to be lost. Swimming beaches( salt or fresh water) volleyball courts Tot lots where mother takes baby to play.Sometimes while mother is swinging baby her ring may slip off and get lost in the wood chips or sand. Under the swings is where I hunt first. Two weeks ago I found a ladies 14k ring with three diamonds under a swing in what I call a tot lot. (Kiddie playground)......Jack

Gold, depending on composition, shows up all over the scale. The purer gold will come in at foil or pulltab.

down thru the years i have found two five dollar gold pieces.both came in at tin foil, both had a very smooth solid sound, and last but not least both were under four inches deep.i think the trick is to look in the old locations.i have also found two gold pieces set in jewelry,i think they came in just above the pull tab range these were found at fresh water beaches.

I believe that about 50% of the gold rings lost are in the nickel-foil range. Most of the rings lost are ladies rings. Just take a look at who wears the most rings. Most are thin either white gold or yellow gold or maybe even platinum. Maybe (hope) with diamonds......Jack

Last week I found a mans 14k wedding ring.First it signaled nickel then bounced to foil back to nickel. The sound was solid , steady , and loud.I knew whatever it was, was near the surface.I found the ring about 4" under the sand. This being my 18th gold ring, in many years of hunting, I more than suspected it was another gold ring by the bouncing and solid sound.Though not always the case, this solid bouncing sound means Dig Me.I was in the all metal mode, which I prefer in general, with about 6-7 approx sensitivity which i prefer.

There's and old saying, " If you ain't digging trash you ain't digging much else either." Sadly many high-content gold items fall into the trash range.
