Of Ghosts and metal detecting. Tell your tale Halloween is near.

I was at a beach at 2am working the low tide. Every few minutes I would whip off my headphones because I thought I heard a whispering woman's voice. I really didn't think of a ghost and chalked it up to someone in a beach cottage. It was real foggy and my headlamp was like a lightsaber in the fog. Later that evening on another forum I was discussing the odd whispering. My inbox started getting links from users telling me about how a ship in my location I was detecting sunk and the only survivor was a dog. The captain and his daughter drowned and for years many would hear the whispering. A metal detector is a powerful electro magnetic device and those ghost shows always use electro magnetic devices to search for ghosts. I wonder if the constant hum of the threshold and the emf waves of my metal detector enhanced the ability to hear the whispering?

I think it was silverslingers who was talking about detecting a haunted location. I am in the M.A / N.H location as well and there are plenty of spooky detecting spots around here.

About 3 years ago, I was working a tot lot I had worked several times in the past. It is a very small tot in a small park.
This morning it was very different then before. Although I was very much by myself, I kept hearing several small kids playing, laughing and giggling. I kept looking but no one around. No houses close and no one in the park.
I was constantly looking over my shoulder thinking someone was walking up behind me. I finally had to leave.

About 2 years before, a couple of kids coming home from school, were crossing the street right in front of the park and were hit by a car and killed. There is a little memorial in front that is meticulously maintained.

Maybe they were just having a good time on Sunday morning?

About a year ago I was in another park with two tots. I had just finished working under the swings in one and was over working the swings in the other. I got this odd feeling to look around and as I looked at the first lot, one of the two swings was jumping up and down as if someone was throwing it straight up in the air. The other was perfectly still.
I checked and no one round anywhere but me. No wind was blowing but the one swing continued to violently thrust up and down while the one next to it stayed calm.
I left shortly after that.
I really don't think we are ever alone.

This also happened about 2 years ago.
Coincidence or ?

A little back ground.
My best friend and I have a bond that is stronger then that of brothers. Jake ( John ) and I have been partners for over 35 years. We dredged gold together, metal detected together, worked in the same industries together and shared adventures that would make your hair stand up on the back of your neck. We have had our backs against the wall too many times and lived thru many very close tight spots.
He moved back home to Missouri about 18 years ago. We keep in touch and about every 2 years I go back for a month or two and stay with him.
Even though we are a couple thousand miles apart, we are always together. If one is in need, the other one knows. Time and distance is no barrier to either of us. We communicate on a higher level you might say.

This had me a little unnerved and a little worried.

Sunday I was on the computer and at 7:32 AM, a picture of the last supper, that has hung on the wall for 20 years, fell to the ground. I thought it was odd and wondered if something happened to someone in the family.

Then later in the morning I was detecting in a very large park. I was digging a target and heard someone call my name. I looked around and no one was in the park but me. Then I realized that I can't hear anything thru my headphones from the outside.

The next day I found a dog tag in a park down the street. This is the only thing I found all day.
The only thing written on it was the word Jake.

I emailed Jake, as he doesn't answer the phone all the time, but did not get an answer back for several days. That's not like him.

All turned out well with Jake and the whole circumstance had me wondering.

Wow plindn1 those are some experiences.
I believe there are indeed forces at work we only see and feel sometimes.
Glad Jake is ok.

This happened about 20 years ago in another country that we were on vacation at. I received word that one of the locals was being haunted by a ghost or something. And the local tale was that were there was hauntings, it usually meant that there was probably something valuable buried there and the ghost of the person who buried whatever , would be guarding it . I had at that time taken a Garrett 2500 with the eagle eye deep cache attachment on my trip. When we got to the place , there was my brother in law, the guy who was being haunted and the neighbor and of course myself with the setup. It was a nice sunny day . We were at the entrance of an avocado grove, and were the strange things were happening was at a shack that they had erected sort of like a guard shack to try and keep the thieves from going into the grove and stealing the avocados. To make a long story short, I went inside the shack which was divided into a small kitchen on one side and a bedroom on the other side with a partial wall dividing them. I powered up the garrett with the eagle eye and started searching. As I was moving along one side of the shack, the detector was deadly silent. The bed had a coil spring mattress , so I would run the detector over it and it would sound off, so I knew it was working. Now I know how the Garrett sounded when it detected metal but what happened next made my skin crawl. As I came around the corner, the garrett went into a scream , literally a scream! I had never heard it do that before, ever! As I would retreat from the area it would quit. needless to say we all felt something that day that made our skins crawl . To top it of it seemed like the anomaly or whatever followed us home. It was a sleepness night for all that were in the house that night as there was something there that would not let us rest. A thick fog like feeling. There are things out there that defy logic but we cant let them govern our lives. I for one am intrigued by these kinds of things and so I will keep on treasure haunting probably till the day I die so that I can come and haunt you were ever you are !!! HAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't know if this fits- several years ago my best friend and I were checking the Halloween candy for needles at the local Sheriff's office. This guy walks up with a pin needle off his new shirt and said he wanted to hear the sound it made. We were in all metal and he had the small coil on. We couldn't get a signal!! We immediately packed up and left word it was best to go to the hospital xray.
