Odd Color Flower...........

Kelley (Texas)

New member
I took this flower picture with my Sony NEX-6 camera and a vintage Samyang 75-300mm F 5.6-5.6 lens at F5.6, 1/500, ISO 200, and tripod. This odd color pink is the actual color of the flower. This old lens was probably made in the late 1960's or early 1970's. I am finding that sometimes I need to use more contrast than normal when editing the picture. I suspect this might be due to the older design of the lens as well as the lens coating.. Kelley (Texas) :)

Kelly,

Is this before editing or after editing?

If after, do you have a before editing photo for comparison?

Nice colors, for sure.

Ron

It's usually the lens coatings on the older lenses, especially the independent makes, that can make the photos less contrasty. However,if you can get photos like that with just a few adjustments who cares.I'm getting great results with my old pentax lens and I'm watching a vivitar 24mm macro lens on eBay at the moment. Some of the old lenses will give much better quality photos than your average new kit lens which can be unsharp to say the least.........keep using them old uns.

The first picture is the original picture and the second picture with the border is the edited picture in my original Post above. You will note that I did little overall editing. Kelley (Texas) :)

Beautiful flower and amazing color. It's between pink and burgundy with a little splash of purple. Very stunning.

I love the before and after editing photos. I think there's a huge difference in the crispness.

Is this one of your flowers?

in a vase placed on the kitchen table. While she does this to brighten up the kitchen, I end up with some flowers to photograph. The flowers are rather inexpensive and will live up to a week giving me plenty of time to take pictures of them.

Enduring a broken neck, surgery, rehab, and the on going present mobility issues due to not yet being able to walk properly. seeing Debbie walking through the door with the flowers is always a welcome sight. I can take the flower pictures sitting in a chair on our patio deck, as well as taking flower pictures while standing. I have come to view our patio deck as being my "open air" studio.

I am now walking on a limited basis with the cane, and on occasion without the cane for short distances. This has enabled me to drive my truck and I am now in the early stages of getting out into the field to again take pictures. Life is great. Wrangler :)

My goodness, you've been through the mill. Thank God you are doing better and day by day you're getting out. It's good to have a wonderful hobby as photography for therapy also.
