MartyMoose came by and picked me up for a hunt today early. We hit the grass with Vancouver Dan and James31 who had already caught a 1907 fishie. Couple of hours went by digging modern money and a few George VI pennies. Then the bites picked up!
First up was this 1921 George V One Cent in bad shape. 12-38 reading.
Then I got another bite at 12-31 and this lovely greenie popped out at 3"
Got a few more George VI pennies, some modern clad and a young Elizabeth penny. Meanwhile James31 had popped a silver dime and a 1917 Quarter. I noticed a tree across the way and I swear it called to me. So I started making a beeline to it across the center of the grass. Halfway there I got a VERY iffy signal at 7" with a large iron signal not 4" away from it. I could only get the high tones from 2 directions, the other ways were solid iron. It was reading 12-31 to 12-34, so I figured eh it's another greenie. So I dug it.
I got down about 6" and the target was almost dead center of the hole. I dug around it and popped the dirt and when I did I had to stop and stare.....THAT IS NOT A QUARTER.... mg:
I called James31 over and had him look and he grinned widely. At first I hoped I had got a Barber but I'll take what I got.
1909 Edward VII 50 Cent Piece! She rang up 12-44 in the air btw.
I rechecked the hole with my pinpointer and buzzzzz, there's company! :hd3:
A 1931 George V Dime!
Woot for pocket spills! :tu:
Piddled around in the grass for awhile finding more George VI pennies and modern clad, then went to the tree I mentioned earlier. On the far side at 4" deep I pulled this oldie.
A tiny childs ring, really old with black stones.
Wandered around for another hour or so, Martymoose came over and said we had to leave soon, so I checked around another HUGE tree and got this keeper. She rang up at 12-40.
Was nothing inside unfortuantly, but she's marked STER on the back and a B inside a circle makers mark.
All in all a great Sunday! Hope yours was half as good or better!
