Is the old Ocean View Park area a safe place to hunt? What does the place look like today? Any safe place to park?

Wish I could tell you but the last time I saw that place was back in 1968 right before the first time I got out of the Navy. If you get to hunt it I would appreciate it if you could post some pictures of the area. Brings back some memories as I had relatives out in east Ocean View back then and I used to stay with them sometimes.

set up for outside band performances..................lots of parking.

brand new big library across the street........................."Greenies" is still there...................jumbo steamed shrimp

Funny but I never went to Greenies. I heard about it a lot but when I was out there all I wanted was my aunt's good home cooking. Staying there and eating those great meals was heaven when I was living aboard ship and it was a large family so you had to get to the table early, lol. The ship was USS Waldron, DD-699 out at D&S piers. We were there when Scorpion went down and I remember it like yesterday. We had just come back from a WESTPAC deployment. I never dreamed then that a few years later I would be a submariner and learn a lot more about Scorpion. The Weapons Officer on my first boat had served on Scorpion and knew a lot of the guys that went down with her. Funny how it seems like a million years ago and yet is still so clear in my mind. Sorry for the memory lane trip. Would love to get back up there some day though.

Thanks all for the post. I think we'll dig out the goose-down and try dry Tuesday. I'll try to time the trip between Tidewater's rush hour traffic.

You guys are bringing back some memories of that area. 67 to 70 I was in the Seabee's at ACB-2, Little Creek. Wish I would have had a detector at that time.
