Observations at Singer Beach

Hi guys,

Got back detecting in West Palm Beach area with my Surf Master PI with the 9.5 inch loop.
Since fresh water is my thing back in NY I've realized a couple things hunting in the ocean beach wet sand.

1.) The beach in the dry sand was trashy. I would not attempt to hunt with a PI in the dry sand
I would use a VLF that is good at discriminating out certain items like bottle caps the part iron rusty prone
type. Came across the twist off caps on beer aluminum cans.

2.) A must have would be a Pulse with the 12" coil like the newer
Surf Master Pro Dual Field. To me the scarity of targets in the wet sand and the
need of stability and depth the PI makes good sense.

Well that's all for now.

Most of us who hunt down here pick and choose where and WHEN to use a PI. We dont get a lot of depth difference and have to dig everything the VLFs leave as well as those the VLF doesnt hit. Thats time consuming unless you intend to work a certain area. A larger coil can cover more ground.... but since there isnt any depth difference between coils on a PI you have to decide/know your beach which one to use. There are a lot of beaches here each have their unique potential and learning conditions can help choose the right one. Most of us old guys.... lol, prefer the VLF it reduces injuries, saves time, and allows us to cover more beach. Even the size of holes in the scoop is a choice to consider. Some of us using the CZ or Xcal hunt in AM.... so stability isnt a problem and we have the option of checking a target faster. Dont get me wrong..... i know some very very good hunters who hunts with nothing but a PI .... it fits their hunting style.
