i have a tejon and i keep reading about o rings around the knobs to keep them tight can any one tell me weather they go on the outside of the face plate just under the knobs or do thy go under the face plate inside the box

I took a look, and it looks like the ones put on mine are under the knobs.Don't have a screwdriver that small to check, which is good, cause sure in Hades, I'd break something Cordially Nad

Yes, they do go under the knobs against the nut holding the control in place. Be careful to avoid pushing them down so tight that they drag hard enough on the nut to loosen it and/or put too much upward pressure on the shaft of the control.

FYI - years ago I used to removed the knobs on my gold detectors and place a felt washer over the shaft, then replaced the knobs down against the felt washers. It's what I had to use at the time. Sometimes conditions were hot and dry out gold detecting and the felt washers did a fine job of keeping the fine dust/dirt out from building up underneath. The washers were a bit thick enough that I could hold a knob down compressing into the washer while tightening the hold fastener.
Just a thought in a pinch if ya don't have o-rings yet.
