Dug a pretty deep one this morning with the A T Pro along an old road bed that runs along one side of this old inner city park. It was one those classic faint whispers that said dig me with a lot of 83's popping up on the screen. I just knew it was going to be a silver dime and fortunately, I wasn't disappointed when out popped a nice 41d Mercury. Which, makes my 100th silver coin dug this year......so far. Also got a toasted Cricket, some clad and 3 wheat backs. All 40's and 50's. 11" coil on the A T running in Pro Zero, iron off and 8 sen. Dig some good ones everyone. HH jim tn

Congratulations on your 100th silver coin! That's a nice looking mercury dime.

Speaking of phones, the place where you found the gold wedding band, there was a recent gang attack.

They beat the hell out this guy and took his phone just for kicks. A brick was used to knock him down and then they kicked and punched him half to death.

The victim has a speech problem because years earlier he was shot in the head when he was 3 years old. That shooting happened in the same neighborhood.

Unless you're carrying a gun you won't stand a chance against them. Oh I forgot, it's a gun free zone. Being careful won't help either.

tabman, I appreciate your concern, but un-less you have hunted this particular park as often as Chris, Benny and I have, you really don't know what kind of activity takes place there during the day. Or, of the police presence there as well. I also believe your are thinking of another park, which, you are correct, is situated in a "war zone." By the same token, being careful out at Wolf Chase doesn't always help either. Oh, gun free zone, yeah, right! HH jim tn

Jim I have hunted that park several times and agree it seems fairly safe especially compared to the other park which is a 'war' zone. But a gang attack did happen there.

That's a great milestone....seldom reached by most. It probably defines you as a person who hunts often and knows the better places where silver should be found. Using good equipment helps also.

That's an impressive chest of silver booty! Sounds like Memphis has gotten rougher since I lived there years ago! I lived across the street from Overton Park (wasn't detecting in those days, darn it). I have fond memories of the pub crawl (used to indulge a lot more back then, heh) and my young lady & I used to walk to Overton Square and imbibe a few and meander home without worries. I still miss Leonard's BBQ!!

Yeah, William, there are some good hunting spots that one needs Seal Team Six at their back here in Memphis now days. Overton Park! :) For the past four winters, I have almost lived in its woods. What a terrific hunting spot those woodlands have been. Yep, Leonard's and numerous others. Memphis has no shortage of great BBQ spots. I kind of like your area, too. HH jim tn
