Could someone give me a good explination of "nulling"

Nulling is when the threshold sound disappears.. the threshold will disappear over any disc'ed out target, whether iron or non ferrous. If too much is disced out it and a good target is mixed in with the rejected targets it makes it harder for the explorer to see the good target.. thats why in most of my spots I use iron mask with a lower setting than the default so it happens less.. its probably what happened where your target disappeared, just because your not overloading doesnt mean there isnt lots of iron and trash down there, and too much disced out will cause you to miss targets in that situation
