Nulling

I just bought a new Explorer II and have been practing with it. Had it out today and this one old house it just stayed on null. Did not hear the threshold at all unless I raised the coil up in the air, or sometimes just hold the coil still. Can this be corrected to keep it from nulling, by changing some settings? Or am I still to new at learning the explorerII? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Backyards tend to be the worst for junk and iron.
Also don't forget to use the NOISE CANCEL button to get the clearest channel. I use this button when my threshold sounds weak.
Stick with SEMI-AUTO SENSITIVITY, to learn the explorer stable threshold is what you need. Try 25, you'll get a decent threshold in semi-trashy areas and you'll still get down to the deep ones.
And as the other guys said, you gotta go slow. A good speed is 3 seconds per sweep.
Keep us posted and good luck,
Greg

If you are running any sort of pattern at all(preset mode you are), anything disced out will null.. its normal.. if you want try switching to iron mask and open it up to -16.. you will hear a threshold everywhere, except while over a target
