Nulling

nulling is what happens when the coil is passed over a rejected item. Make sure you have your threshold at a hearable level, because when it goes silent or "nulls" a lot slow down. If their is junk next to a coin you will miss it if you are going too fast. Something I do is put the detector in Furreous sounds and go to Iron Mask and hear all tones if it is Iron infested you will get a lot of low tones that don't hurt the ears.
