Has anyone used the Explorer for nuggets? Will it do the job, and if so what would be the best coil to use?.........John

Unless you get in the 10 grain size. The stock coil with pick up a 10 grain at around 4 inches with sens around 22. Problem is that a lot of the ground where nuggets are is real hot and the Explorer is touch and go in some of these area. I have hunted in the Sierras with it and in some places it does great in others it is practically unusable. (Serpentine bedrock drives it crazy)
Some nuggets results with different coils (Explorer sens 22, Iron mask -10, gain 6-7) AIR TEST
6 grain nugget: Stock-0; SR 8-0; Joey- 1/2 inch
10 grain nugget: Stock- 4 3/4 inches; SR 8- 1 3/4 inches; Joey- 3inches
It is the ground conditions that kill it as a nugget hunter.
Not great for nuggests, but GREAT for damn near everyting else!!
Only my opinion
