Nubia needs help with a token I dug up.

Got my first MD (Garrett250) for Christmas. Still learning, but getting a better feel of the machine. My fourth trip out found a coin that is a token that I assume was given out by the GE corporation years ago. The token has a number on one side. It also says valuable token. The other side has a GE emblem and the saying Best for any set. The coin is in pretty good shape. It appears to be copper. Anyone ever dig one of these? Any Value? I don,t know how to upload photos yet, so I am hoping I gave enough info for someone to tell me what I found, and some history on it. I also need to know if I should chemically clean it, or just leave it alone.
Thanks a lot.

You have found a General Electric token from the 1950's. It was a promotion piece for GE tubes, yours should say "tubes" on the top. I have seen them from about $3 to $25. I suspect yours will be valued at the low end of that scale as it is dug. It is a nice find, good luck and keep hunting !!!!

Go to eBay and you will probably see several for sale.

Maybe "low end" but wasn't it fun to find something that's been lost for probably 60 years ? I always think about the story of who lost it and the story behind it.

Yes, that,s exactly the type of find I needed to keep my interest going, as I was a little disappointed at first and am having some problems with my confidences since I am getting so few coins and a lot of trash.
Thanks for the reply, it is a confidence booster.

Just remember you often have to dig trash to find a treasure. Research is the key to finding an old site that has not been hunted and then look out. I once hunted a baseball field that was being renovated and research showed it was a carnival site in the early teens and was then a football field before becoming a baseball field. I found more in a few days, early silver and jewelry than I have found in a year at all other sites combined. To anyone else it was just a baseball field, research showed it was much more. Have fun, don't get discouraged because you never know what the next find will be !!!

Exactly. Monetary value often has little to do with the pleasure of a find for me. Some things are just old and neat to find.
