Thanks for the update Scott, good info and will keep in mind what you stated about the caps relative to off center toning. I too am findig those little .22 casings to be a bugger at one of the places I detect for old civil war stuff. You stated you were hitting them around the 82 VDI, I am getting them up in the 83-84 range. I'm guessing it is due to the units tendency to up average some VDI's especially if working in areas with a lot of trash and iron. I have found though that a coin will come in a little crisper than that of a casing. I've been working in the F2-3 range when in the heavy trash, with my disc at 55 and sens at 65. It does help some.

In air test of about 15 IH's I had handy the IDs were in the 73-79 range. The IHs that IDed lower on the T2 IDed on my 3D on the relic icon (the second from the right). The IH that I dug about two weeks ago IDed in the 75-78 range. More coins IDs are at a post I did at...

No perfect detector, as they all have good and bad points...
Many have several brands just to cover different situations....
