Nozzle ? maybe? but don't really know

I found this last year and I still don't know what it is. I have shown it to a lot of people with no good answer yet. It is made of brass and looks like some sort of a nozzle but if it had threads inside so it could screw onto a hose then I would believe it is a nozzle but the other end is mystifying. how can this be attached to something? I found it in a farmers field where an old mill used to be. any ideas would be great. thanks.

sorta looks like an air hose connector on the end..

Is there any symbols or writing or numbers on it? I don't see any in the pictures.

I think with the bottom cut like it is, I think it looks like a part to a fence or gate. It would sit on top of the upper pipe with a threaded rod going through to the bottom, with some kind of point or cap on top. Well that's my 2 cents. Jack

thanks Jack... that does seem like a possibility. I'll try looking a pictures of old fences and see if something like that shows up.

martygene, posted. personally I think its a nozzle from a sprayer used in the farming. Interchangeable sizes for liquid fertilizers.
Just my guess.

I did find it in a farm field so that is very possible. thanks

That looks like a nozzle to an old style Indian Firefighting backpack, used to fight brush fires. The modern ones have two nozzles attached together, the older ones had a nozzle like the one you found.
