Took the Explorer out for a bit tonight, did not have much, luck couple mason lids and a bunch of deep rusty nails. So I came home and decided to do get some of my coins out and do some testing.
Went outside and found a clean piece of ground. I had an Indian head, Mercury dime, Barber quarter and Buffalo nickel. I was scanning the coins and gradually raising the coil, listing to the changes in the tones. Trying to get a better understanding of what I should be listing for. And I noticed that after lifting the coil to about six inches, I was not picking up anything. No matter what I did, nothing. Thought I might have something set wrong, cause I was checking out the options and functions. So, I reset it to the factory presets

Hi Bill,
The Explorers aren't know to air test well. You will get more depth on coins that have been in the ground for awhile.

Try running it in ferrous mode. I use it about 90% of the time. Works GREAT! HH and good luck, George Fatizzi
