Jerry at Treasure Hunter's Supply!! I recieved the detector Friday evening and did not even get the chance to assemble it until Sunday evening. Then I went to a park and hit around the play ground area to get used to it. Only had it out about an hour because it was taking me way too long to retrieve targets.(and I did't want to leave the park in shambles) Man now I need the propointer too. My Etrac has the x1 probe and boy I cant live without a pinpointer. But I did manage to dig some pretty deep pull tabs and 1 quarter. Machine was very stable with maxed out sensitivity. I was using pro mode zero with iron disc at 35 and iron audio off except to check targets. Does this sound like a good way to run the AT Pro at parks? I mainly dig coins but would love to find me some gold!! What are some typical vdi's on gold? Thanks and HH Joe

I hope it got there in good shape, and I hope you find lot's of stuff with it :)

Running full sens. is probably why you can't pinpoint with the thing (although the Propointer is great, love mine)!!. I'll never figure out why the first thing a lot of people do is crank that Sens. up full blast. Would you drive your car at 160 mph just because they put a gas pedal in it that will get you up that fast? You won't get any more depth running full that you will at 5 bars. Save yourself some grief and lower it, will smooth right down.
Gold hits all over the place except the high range. I've dug them from 67 down to 36 and everything in between. You want gold, forget the meter and dig everything that gives a good solid hit thru your 'phones at the settings you described.

Sure hope to Jerry......And thanks for the advice Big Cat although it seemed to be running pretty smooth to me. I did play with the sensitivity up and down and chose to stay up because I guess the park I was at had some good ground.

I've had the AT Pro for 2 months and now typically run Pro mode Zero with iron disc at 32. The ground here balances in the 89-91 range and I run up to full sensitivity in parks and fields with good results. In tot lots I've found that by running only 2 bars of sensitivity I can get closer to the equipment with the 8.5x11 DD coil. Pinpointing with the DD coil is fast and accurate regardless of sensitivity set. I use a tight wiggle of the coil over the target in Pro/Zero in two directions as seen at the 9:15 mark of their video - www.youtube.com/user/GarrettDetectors#p/u/18/l-hqvdjRVxc
Garrett gets my thanks for all the instructional videos they provide on Youtube. I learned how to use the AT Pro watching them

TOT is an abbreviation for "Toddlers" A small playground area for the younger children Hence A TOT Lot.

If you buy Garretts Pro Pointer....You'll flat use it from now on! Period. With all your detectors. Have not used one better. I even beleive it bets SUNRAY!

I think your right.......I love the x1 probe by sunray but it adds some weight to the machine and also sometimes gets in the way. Some people even say it can affect the detectors performance. I haven't noticed. But I cannot say till I try the propointer. Just ordered it today!!
