Now that you people have.......

It gives you the freedom to take a lot of pictures, at little expence, and experiment. The software allows you to be creative.

Digital may "rule the roost" real soon but I think film will never be extinct. Film will probably get more expensive as digital takes over.

nobody expected the Land camera to ever be replaced but it happened. I guess they still sell them but I would not buy any stock in the company.
The Digital Camera can only get better. I have friends that say that they don't compair to the film but for the average user, the difference is not apparent.
Next week I am going to be headed for a curise. I am taking enough memory for over 700 shots. If I was taking a film camera I would only take a couple rolls but with this medium, I can pop everything and sort them later. Sometimes you can get two or three nice pictures from one shot. Especially on a beach. <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> Hope for some good poolside shots

Hi there Royal---I remember your trip last year and the photos you posted for us. Have you heard of "Flip Album"? It's program that lets you burn your pictures on a CD (among other features)in an album forum. It's really neat--you can look at each picture or view it as a slide show. I downloaded the program and saved 10 bucks. Anyhow here is the URL: Look it over. I bought the version 4.0 with the CD function included. Have a SAFE and enjoyable trip and take lots of pics! I think you can also upload the Flip Album with your pics so everyone can enjoy your trip. Take care,
Your friend,
Jerry

When you burn your pics on the CD, you can look at them with any computer. Just insert the CD and it automatically starts---no software is needed on any computer to view the pics. You can also print any picture from the album. I have made many albums for my kids and grandkids.

Love it Rick!! I use the Canon G1 and have taken over 4000 pictures with no failures (other than my own). I always take twice as many as I think I will use and then delete my mistakes. I've even sold some of my 8 by 10's. Bracketing is very useful if you are not sure about the exposure. Taking pictures with digita cameras is about the same as slides--very particular on the exposures. For an amateur, I've had some very nice compliments from friends. I like taking landscapes and outdoor scenes. Many thanks for being the host on this forum.
I would also like to see more pictures with settings of the camera when posting here. It really helps us to become better photographers, especially DOF, exposure compensations, etc, and why you choose the settings.

I have nothing but praise for my Nikon 775. Since it is so small and light but yet a 2.1 with lots of features I carry it in a case on my belt whenever I am metal detecting. Now, I can take shots of my finds as I get them, what the area looks like, or if I see some turkeys or deer or the unusual mushrooms I posted a few months back, I can now get the shot and not say, "I wish I had my camera with me". It is like having an additional hobby while detecting and also it has enhanced by record keeping of my coins. The digital camera, and the great software that we all can use today just down right makes amateur photography FUN!!! Don in South Jersey
