Now that we have all vented about the Outlaw....................

......we can all take a deep breath and rejoice that Tesoro did come out with a new machine.
May not be what everyone was hoping for in the way of features but, it will be a solid, well built, compact bread and butter machine
for many. For those who were asking for a Bandido to be reproduced, you have been given another chance to own one that Robert says
is improved over the old ones.

Will be interested in seeing how the performance stacks up against the Cib and the Vac and Tejon. If performance is above the Vac, it should be a winner.

This sort of reminds me of the re-introduction of some classic cars Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, Dodge Challenger.

I think we all wish the best for Tesoro and hope the Outlaw is a good seller for them. The coil, lower rods combo set if you think about it will handle most
detecting needs, large coil for relics, 8" coil for coins, jewelry and the 5.75" for trashy areas.

Good points, Sven. I think someone else said it (muconium?) - Tesoro made the Outlaw with new customers or newer customers in mind rather than existing "power users". The package deal with the 3 coils makes a lot of sense to someone new to MDing and also to those that bought a Compadre, got hooked, and now want something with more options and control.

You have got to remember we're still climbing our way out of recession. As a business, Tesoro has to put its resources where it will get the best returns - that means a machine with broad appeal. Making a high-power, souped-up, high-end machine with TID and everything else would be great for us but would essentially only appeal to a niche market and result in fewer sales.

As a unique manufacturer that seems to truly value simplicity and effectiveness over whiz-bang bells and whistles, I want Tesoro to stick around for a long, long time (after all, the lifetime warranty doesn't mean much if the company goes under). If putting out the Outlaw will help secure their future, I'm all for it - even if I don't actually want the Outlaw myself.

yea lets give it a chance. i think i would rather have a new old style machine than an old old style machine, where components are starting to breakdown. If thats the type machine i wanted. If i wanted the higher tech visuals and so forth, programmable, then i would move on elswhere. Metal detectors are kinda like that tater chip--cant have just one. there is no one machine regardless of the hype that will do it all the very best. opinions terrains type hunting etc... we know what this machine is capable of on paper. it should work fine for what it is. being newer less need for repair. being newer lighter, being newer less power consumption. Outlaw was the name of a Bounty Hunter 280. no name problem there? name it the Accountant for policing up the stray coins that it should:rolleyes:
