Mr Smarty Pants haha

Good idea if I had the money
I hear ya Gary, wish I could afford more than one detector myself. How about reading all the forums and maybe picking up a pointer or two. Think about what spots you will hit and what tactics you'll use when the Conquistador gets back. And last but not least think how good that baby will work after the best of the best techs. get their hands on it. The good folks at Tesoro will have that good ole Conquistador tuned like a fiddle. Steve.

It has served me well since I picked it up 2+ months ago. Four silver dimes "three rosie and one barber, two V nickles "one I can only see the 18", four Indian heads ..one dating back to 1864 and about a dozen wheats plus the numerous clad and jewelry and various "other things" and I'm ready for more.

AND besides all that....

I've gotten to learn from some really nice people...Thanks

Research local history looking for potential hunting sites and introduce yourself and your detecting interests to more really nice people. Find older sites in your area. Let the neighbors and other friends know that you are interested in finding old metal, and old history in the ground at places that had or still have occupied buildings. If someone says I heard so and so's daughter's boyfriend's family has a really old house with history ... follow up. (That's how I found one nice site ... drive is a little far but has been worthwhile when I have gotten there). The older the site the better. You have already found some nice old coins, so you probably already know all that, but focused planning can help keep one from going stir crazy until the detector is back.

Hope you get that Conquistador back soon. I'm sure it will be working as good as new.
Cheers,

Well I know they will take care of the detector no matter what happens so I'm grateful of that. The nice people I was referring to was the people here on the forums. I really didn't know squat about Tesoro till I got it and read back a BUNCH of pages on every board I could find. After seeing how tight the community is on here and seeing how you all give freely, I'm in good company and I appreciate it.

As far as the things I've found...it's not so much that I have been to really great places...heck most of it I lucked into just because I've been out in the field with the detector dang near every day. I spend most of my time in woods that GW owned back in the 1700's. He bought like 1300 acres here and started a town. The land was sold off when he died and the town was renamed. He never lived here but there was TONS of activity. I just hike alot around the area through the woods and put the coil pretty much any where it will fit. My GF and I walk a butt load and she swings the thing as much as I do. She can't pinpoint for s--t but I teach her as I can and we end up finding things. The time spent together out in nature and walking the dog is the best part. Having the detector with us is just icing on the cake.

We are all like family around here & now you are part of the family, welcome aboard. Sure don't get much better than being outside, spending time with a loved one and getting a few goodies to boot, and having some great forum friends to be able to turn to if needed. Steve.

Sounds like you have a great place to explore and hunt and have priorities in order.
Cheers,
