Now I know what it feels like to swing 17 inches around

I haven't been able to get out too much since I received the 17 inch coil. But I made it out for a couple hours this morning. The grass was high in the fields but I think mainly due to the sheer weight of the coil I was able to swing through it. I found a couple parts of buckles and an interesting little medal that say Van Keuren 367 Main St Poughkeepsie and on the back it says Watches Clocks and Jewelry. pinpointing was a bit of a learning experience. I found I had to circle the target couple more times to narrow it down. But I only have a couple hours using the coil so I'm not worried about it. I would like to believe that at least one or two of the interesting objects I found today was because of the extra coverage the larger coil offered me.

Nice finds and info. Gary

Easiest way to pinpoint with the 17" is off the tip. Wiggle it back till the sound disappears then forward till it starts. The target should be just under the first 1-2" of coil then.

Btw nice hunt.

Your watch "medal" is actually a pocket watch winder. Looks like the bottom, where it would screw into/onto the watch is damaged but.....still a Sweet find. I can't recall ever seeing one with a manufacturer's name on it.

thanks for the pinpointing tip and the info about the pocket watch winder! helpful folks like you are what make this forum great!
