Hi All,
My name's jim, I'm new here, I've had the White's Vision pretty much since it came out, but I don't get to go out using it as much as I'd like, so the learning curve is taking a while. For the most part, I have just used the factory preset programs so far, and it has been awesome! I've found Gold jewelry, plenty of coins, and even a 1753 Spanish 1/2 Reale!! So, I've got the basics, but I'd love to learn how to get more from this machine as I know it can do so much. I have noticed that in most of the places I use it, I'm forced to use the "high trash" mode, as I get way too many signals. But I suspect I'm missing things by doing that. I hardly dig any trash, but who knows what I'm not getting. When detecting plowed farm land, I can use the "coin and jewelry" mode without a problem, (not much trash out there)
A couple of times, I've tried the "deep silver" mode, and MY WORD!!! I couldn't move the coil without a barrage of noise! I can't figure that program out for the life of me! anybody have success with that program?
I use the D2 coil most of the time, but when on the farm, I switch to the 12".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jim.

Welcome Jim. It seems like you are doing just fine. I think you have to ask specific questions to get more then general answers. There is plenty of help on the forum. Also don't be afraid to use the search feature and read old posts. I think at this point most questions that could be asked have been asked. Rob

Hi Jim and welcome to the forum. If you are hunting in trash that heavy, you might consider a smaller coil to help separate the targets.

Hi Larry,
Thanks, yeah, I have been using the Super 12" coil a lot, but just wasn't sure if it was a lot of trash or just me not setting the detector properly. Perhaps I'll go back to the D2 unless farm or beaches.
Jim.

The 12" is way too big for trash. I used the D2 as my main coil. The D2 is still a pretty large coil for hunting in trash. It takes skill and practice. A smaller coil would be the way to go. For me the 6x10 works well, other people use the 5.3. With any coil if you don't get the surface or shallow targets you won't see the deeper targets. Rob
