Nothing to do with metal detecting, but..

My brother-in-law has an Eisenhower dollar. He went to the bank and got one the first week they were issued back in 1971 and has carried it in his pocket every day since then. The thing looks like a mirror. It is so smooth and polished it's just unbelievable. If you squint real hard and hold the coin just right you can see the faintest outline of his profile, but the rest is like a mirror. Probably not much value to it anymore. I doubt that it's even spendable. Sorry to be so off topic, but I just thought of that and it IS kinda quiet in here.
