I have several places to detect that the houses were built around 1900 and a couple that have been cleared, but i know where they were. My question is i can't find anything old just some clad. I have a standard garett 250. Am i not going deep enough or what. I want to find some older stuff:confused: any help thanks

Just keep unmasking the shallower targets and sooner or later you'll hit them. Do you have a bigger coil? That would get better depth.

I have run into several places that over time fill dirt has been brought in for landscaping or to fill in low spots this may be the problem.

n/t

House sites can prove to be extremely challenging due to the plethora of junk targets that can mask good targets. Then again, there just may not be anything there. Just because a place is old doesn't mean there are old coins to be found. People tend to forget that most people didn't even carry money back then until they were going somewhere that they could spend it. And if they did lose a quarter, they would hunt for it until they found it as a quarter back then was a substantial amount of money.
