Nothing in the water, everything found on volleyball sand.

I got skunked this morning. I didn't find anything in the water, well, one Bud lite can some jerk threw in.
Went up to the volley ball nets, found the 925 silver girls band, and the change.
the bead thing is off some sort of necklace. I find one of them once in a while. Still NO GOLD.

You are lucky that you only found ONE can! Where I live, I am stepping on 6 or seven and literally find scores of them buried in the sand. I have to exit the water every hour just to dump my garbage pouch!

I am always pulling this stuff out of the surfline and you're right people look at you as though you are the problem not the solution to their piggy ways. I don't mind it when they throw their gold and silver away though, always willing to help out in that department.
It's the resentment that burns me though, people think that THer's are some kind of public service and it cheeses them off that we go to the expense of buying expensive equipment and learning to use it so we can pursue an interesting hobby and then we are expected to move heaven and earth to find some fool who didn't bother to take care of their possessions in the first place. I am happy to return a ring to someone if they can prove to me they lost it. I'll happily spend an hour searching for someone's lost treasure if they ask politely, no compensation required. After all it's the hunt that makes it an interesting hobby not the cash.
But Please, don't expect me to run ads in the newspaper and spend my time sorting through bogus responses from gold diggers.:nono:
I don't tell anyone about my finds anymore except on this forum, it's just not worth it.
End of Rant. My Apologies for Preaching to the Converted.:please:

Well spoken bda. I agree totally. If the powers that be could only see the potentially dangerous items that we remove, then they would possibly be more understanding of us and what we do. Maybe I should take a big ole bag of nut to a city council meeting and empty it on the table and say, see what I kept the bathers in the surf from stepping on. Maybe I could just let them look in the bag. Oh and I'll be sure to bring some broken glass, which I also retrieve in the midst of digging a target. Bottomfeeder, be thankful for the silver, because I hunted yesterday from 8A-5P and did not get any rings. Silver would have made me very happy. I'm ready for the next gold. Have not seen the yellow metal in my scoop since 05-07. Tenacious perseverance pays!

and I'm going to glue it all to a board. I'm thinking about keeping it in my vehicle during the swimming season. Anyone gives me problems, I'll show them exactly what I'm finding (minus jewelry). I also plan to use that as a "show and tell" to show the owners of private campgrounds what I can find, and tell them I'm willing to recover and remove that junk from their swimming area, as long as they let me keep the goodies.

Some people are just plain resentful of anybody who goes out there and tries to do a little good in this world. The glass is always half empty for them and so they can only see the negative side of things. It's too bad but it's too true.
